How to be Popular

Stephanie Landry wants to be popular, but it's been very hard since an accident five years earlier. She's found a book that will teach her how to be popular. It matters very much to Steph that this plan works even though it might mean that she makes some enemy's in the process. If you've ever wanted to be popular then this story will give you the insight into what really happens.and parts of it you might not want to be a part of. A very well written book I totally suggest it.

I love this book, and that might be because I am a romantic, but I suggest it.

Aquamarine

Author: Alice Hoffman

Hailey and Claire are spending their last summer at the Capri Beach Club because Clair is moving to Florida right before school starts. One day, after a large storm Hailey dives into the pool and sees something that she doesn't believe: a mermaid. Their adventures continue from that moment and end even when they don't want them to. I'm sorry to say that I thought this book was to brief and I liked the movie a lot better. It was way to simple and actualy kind of boring.

Author: Randa Abdel-Fattah

Jamie is popular, she has lots of friends and is asked out by the cutest guy in school. What everyone doesn't know about her is that her real name is Jamilah and she is Muslim, has a dad straight from the Stone Age, and has a sunset curfew. She is afraid that if everyone knew that she was Muslim and she plays daraburka in an Arabic band that everyone would judge her. Who is she...Jamie or Jamilah? A good story about a girl trying to unwind all the lies that she has woven and to finally be herself.

Molly and Cassie hate each other. They are both stuck with lunch duty for starting a food fight in the cafeteria. They have to figure out a way to work together and get the school to like their food. Very funny and has four real recipes in it that actually work! If you're a kid and don't like your school lunches it also has some websites that might help you change that.

Fresh Off the Boat

Author: Melissa de la Cruz

Vicenza is the new girl at Grosvernor High and she has gone from rich and popular, back in her old country, to poor and unpopular, in America. She is lying to her friend back in the Philippines, Peaches. She is totally crushing on one of the hottest boys at school but he doesn't know she exists. Her only friend is Isobel, an eccentric french girl. The biggest disaster is that she will most likely end up going with the scrawny, family friend Freddy in a outlet dress to the school, dance! This is a hilarious book about a girl dealing with the problems of high school.

For Parents: This is a very funny book but it talks about some drinking so I would suggest it for 11+.
